Everyone has time, and everyone has skills. Why not use some of yours for a local good cause this year? Here are a few ideas to get you started.
Time Banking works by facilitating the exchange of skills and experience within a community. Time Banking values everyone’s time as equal, 1 hour equals 1 hour. For every hour you spend helping someone in your community you are entitled to an hour of help in return. Sign up today and use your time and skills to benefit the community.
Get involved in your Local Assembly
Local assemblies are open meetings where you and others decide how to improve your area.
The assembly is your chance to:
- discuss and share what matters to you
- work with your councillors and others to shape the future of your neighbourhood
- find out what is happening in your ward
- consider how funding available to your ward is spent.
GoodGym Lewisham helps you get fit by doing good. We’re a group of runners that combines regular exercise with helping our communities. From Goldsmiths to Beckenham Place Park we run the streets helping those most in need. We’re always up for welcoming new runners, so if you’re in the area come and join in.
Every Saturday we serve a three-course meal lunch made from surplus food. Our meals are cooked and served in the London Irish Community Centre, in partnership with Rushey Green Timebank.
Go ON Lewisham
Go ON Lewisham is a 12-month pilot programme, in partnership with Lewisham Council; to test, learn, and share new ways to help local people get the Basic Digital Skills they need.
